Hi! Meet Drogo! He is 3 months old and got to me in a shoe box all the way from another county.
He's been showing signs of back pain since the start of June.
We started treatment but the pain just wouldn't give in.
Last night, on the 7th of June, he fell from the bed, at only 10 inches height.
He's been unable to use his back legs since.
This morning, 8th of June, the vet recommended X-Rays. Here is what we found out:
Drogo suffers from a malfunction of his thyroid gland that causes calcium not to be absorbed in his bones, making them brittle and hallow. His spine has several broken vertebrae, more to come his way if he even attempts a small jump or a bit of rough play. In time, left untreated, his condition will lead to urinary and fecal incontinence, massive amount of pain, renal blockages, digestive problems, partial paralysis and then total paralysis.
BUT WE ARE NOT TAKING THAT ROUTE.
Putting him down is an option, yes, but not yet. Not for him and not for me. There are still things the doctors can try and there's a small chance he will grow to be an almost normal cat, but that requires time, effort and a substantial amount of money.
